Mountain Drive Forms County-Recognized Architectural Review Board: The FDR
Because of the Tea Fire of November 13, 2008, the Mountain Drive Community Association has created an architectural review board to assist people in rebuilding their homes, and to ensure that the cultural and architectural character, the sense of community that defines this district of Montecito, is protected, rebuilt, and enhanced.
Toward that end, a working board of architects, landscape specialists, contractors, artists, and historians will meet ad hoc to assist in developing individual house plans as well as common community infrastructure, and represent the owners to the Montecito Design Review Board, the Santa Barbara County Architectural Board of Review and Planning Department, and to the City of Santa Barbara Architectural Board of Review and Planning Department. The Board will serve as an advocate for the community residents, collaborating to solve the myriad of tasks that come with rebuilding after a fire while meeting needs of the County and City.
In honor of one of Santa Barbara’s finest practitioners of architecture and one whose life and work helped shape the Mountain Drive Community, this board shall be named the Frank D. Robinson Architectural Review Board, aka: The FDR.
